Mud puddles covered large sections of the Fair Grounds Sunday following thunderstorms Friday and Saturday.

But the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell will reopen today at 11. The National Weather Service forecast a mostly sunny day Sunday with a high near 87.

There’s also a 20 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms after 1 p.m.

Thunderstorms forced Jazz Fest to close an hour early Friday, cutting performances by the day’s headlining acts short.

On Saturday, sustained rain and wind moved across the festival grounds, but the music continued and only one performance was canceled.

The rain left large sections of mud throughout the site Saturday but large crowds were on hand to see and hear The Who, John Legend and dozens of other performances thoughout the day.
