The droll folk music/comedy duo Flight of the Conchords is slated to touch down at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans on July 11. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Saenger box office and via Ticketmaster.
Flight of the Conchords consists of Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie. The New Zealand duo first came to the attention of American audiences via an HBO sitcom that ran from 2007 to 2009. It featured Clement and McKenzie as a hapless music duo, with an equally hapless manager, trying to make a name for themselves in New York City while being pursued by a lone, obsessed female fan. The plot of each episode would be interrupted as Clement and McKenzie broke into song.
They’ve released albums of their humorous compositions, but have been largely inactive since a 2014 tour.
The upcoming, 28-date trek, dubbed the “Flight of the Conchords Sing Flight of the Conchords Tour,” will visit theaters and amphitheaters across North America starting June 11 in Cleveland. The international charity organization Global Citizen has partnered with the tour.
“I’m thrilled to get back on the road with over half the original band,” McKenzie said, tongue firmly in cheek, in a news release.
