The Crescent City Blues and BBQ Festival, one of New Orleans’ favorite fall festivals, returns this weekend for a three-day stand in Lafayette Square Park.

Presented each October by the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Foundation, the Blues and BBQ Festival is a free event featuring music, food, a big arts market and an oral history stage.

This year’s lineup includes the great roots-music band from East Los Angeles, Los Lobos; Ana Popovic, a Memphis-based singer-guitarist originally from Serbia; Mississippi blues showman Bobby Rush; Joe Louis Walker, the veteran singer-guitarist from the San Francisco Bay Area; Southern soul singers Denise LaSalle and Mel Waiters; and Selwyn Birchwood, a rising young artist from Florida.
