Tickets for the Neville Brothers’ all-star farewell concert go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16. The concert, “Nevilles Forever: A Celebration of the Neville Brothers and their Music,” will take place Saturday, May 2, at the Saenger Theatre.
Tickets will be available through ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster locations and by phone at 800-745-3000. Tickets will also be available at the Saenger Theatre box office, 1111 Canal St., 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Neville brothers Art, Aaron, Charles and Cyril will tentatively be joined by guests Widespread Panic, Allen Toussaint, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, Galactic, Irma Thomas, Terence Blanchard, Ivan Neville, Ian Neville, John Boutté and Anders Osborne. Additional performers will be announced.
Grammy Award-winner Don Was will serve as music director for the show and lead an all-star band. Keith Wortman, executive producer of the concert, previously staged and filmed concert specials in honor of Johnny Cash, Levon Helm, Gregg Allman, Mavis Staples and Emmylou Harris. Wortman and Was also produced last spring’s tribute to Dr. John, “The Musical Mojo of Dr. John,” also filmed at the Saenger.
“The Neville Brothers are the royal family of New Orleans funk,” Was said in a statement. “Individually, each brother is a musical powerhouse unto himself, but when they play together they create musical magic. The fact that they’ve come home to New Orleans for this show makes it all the more special.”
