The Maple Leaf Bar marks its 40th anniversary at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, with the Andrew Hall Society Jazz Band and Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen.

The Andrew Hall Society Jazz Band headlined the Maple’s Leaf’s opening night on Feb. 24, 1974. The band, featuring Sweet Emma and members of Buddy Bolden’s band, subsequently played a residency gig at the bar for nearly nine years.

Other music this week at the Maple Leaf Bar, 8316 Oak St., includes the Rebirth Brass Band on Tuesday; New Orleans Suspects on Wednesday; The Trio with Johnny Vidacovich, James Singleton and June Yamagishi on Thursday; and Cyril Neville’s Neville Gras featuring Swampfunk with “Mean” Willie Green, Nigel Hall, Carl Dufrene, Cranston Clements and special guests on Saturday.
