The Voodoo Music + Arts Experience returns to New Orleans’ City Park this weekend for its 16th annual Halloween event.

Star attractions among this year’s 79 acts include Ritual Stage headliners Foo Fighters, the Dave Grohl-led rock band currently featured in the HBO music-documentary series “Sonic Highways”; British rock band Arctic Monkeys; and Outkast, the Grammy-winning rap duo that returned to the stage this year to mark its 20th anniversary.

Running Friday through Sunday, Voodoo Experience 2014 features another star on the comeback trail, Lauryn Hill. After achieving fame with hip-hop and rhythm-and-blues group The Fugees, Hill’s solo album debut, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” won a record-breaking five Grammy awards.

Other rock bands on this year’s bill include Thirty Second to Mars, featuring Jared Leto, the singer and actor who won an Oscar in March for his role in the New Orleans-filmed drama “Dallas Buyers Club.”

Electronic music acts, including Skrillex, Pretty Lights and Zedd, will dominate their usual spot, Le Plur Stage.

Voodoo Experience continues to showcase local acts on the festival’s Flambeau Stage. Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, the Rebirth Brass Band, Soul Rebels, Quintron and Miss Pussycat, Bonerama and rising New Orleans rock singer-guitarist Benjamin Booker are sharing the Flambeau Stage with such visiting acts as Manchester Orchestra, Red Baraat and that veteran ska-funk-punk-rock group from Los Angeles, Fishbone.
