The Cure, the British pop-Goth band led by singer-guitarist Robert Smith, will perform May 11 at the UNO Lakefront Arena. It’s the first show of the band’s upcoming U.S. tour.
Publicity for “The Cure Tour 2016” — featuring Smith, bassist Simon Gallup, drummer Jason Cooper, keyboardist Roger O’Donnell and guitarist Reeves Gabrels — promises the band will perform songs from throughout its 37 year history.
The Cure played its previous New Orleans show on the final day of the 2013 Voodoo Music + Arts Experience. The band performed studio-quality renditions from its classic catalog. At Voodoo Experience that year, “Fascination Street,” “High,” “Lullaby,” “Just Like Heaven,” “Pictures of You” and more struck nostalgic chords in the delighted throng of ’80s and ’90s kids who grew up loving The Cure.
Tickets for the May 11 Cure show go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster by phone at (800) 745-3000.
