The Gretna Heritage Festival celebrates is 20th anniversary this year. Covering 25 city blocks, the festival features music by national and local acts, a food court, an Italian village, a German beer garden, arts and crafts and rides and games.

Fifty musical acts will perform on six festival stages. The lineup includes main stage headliners Gregg Allman, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Late addition Paul Rodgers (Bad Company, Free), another classic rock act, has been added to Saturday’s main stage lineup.

This year’s dozens of local acts include Lena Prima, the funky Meters, Cowboy Mouth, Honey Island Swamp Band, Bonerama and Carlo Ditta.

Admission

Admission to the festival is $20 per day. Single day tickets will be available at the gate for $25. Children 12 and under are admitted free.

Shuttle rides and parking

Free shuttle rides and free parking are available from the Oakwood Shopping Center, Gretna Bus Terminal at Whitney Avenue and Westbank Expressway as well as Jefferson Parish School Board Headquarters at 501 Manhattan Blvd in Harvey. Free parking is also available at 3rd and Derbigny.

Ferry rides

The Gretna-Canal Street ferry will be in operation between the Canal Street Ferry Dock and the Gretna Ferry Landing. Hours of operation are Friday 4 p.m.-midnight; Saturday 2 p.m.-12:30 a.m.; and Sunday noon-9:30 p.m.

The ferry will leave Canal Street at the top of each hour and leave Gretna at the bottom of each hour. Ferry rides are $4 per person round trip, collected at the Canal Street terminal.

Food trucks

Six of the area’s popular food trucks in the area will be serving festivalgoers throughout weekend. The trucks are The Cluck Truck, The Holy Grill, Rollin’ Fatties, Queen of Wheels, The Red Stove and Kenny’s Cajun & Creole.

Location

Gretna is across the Mississippi River from New Orleans, accessible by car via the Westbank Expressway, Lafayette Street exit to the service road and a right on Huey P. Long Avenue.
