Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will perform at the Saenger Theatre on Sunday, July 27. The concert, a benefit for the Tipitina’s Foundation, is presented in partnership with the soon-to-reopen Orpheum Theatre and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Marsalis, a New Orleans native and son of jazz pianist, composer and educator Ellis Marsalis, is a Pulitzer Prize winner and the winner of nine Grammy Awards for both jazz and classical music.

Marsalis co-founded a jazz program at Lincoln Center in 1987. In 1996, Jazz at Lincoln Center was installed as a new component of Lincoln Center, equal to the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera and New York City Ballet.

Marsalis currently serves as artistic director for Jazz at Lincoln Center and music director for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
