The latest Tulane graduates celebrated the completion of their college career at Tulane University’s 184th commencement Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Nearly 3,000 Tulane graduates, their families and friends listened to keynote speaker Jesmyn Ward, a two-time National Book Award winner and one of TIME magazine's Most Influential People of 2018, and saw honorary degrees presented to New Orleans Saints hero and ALS activist Steve Gleason, Grammy-winning singer Irma Thomas, Netscape Co-Founder James H. Clark and Dr. Paul E. Farmer, who has dedicated his life to improving health care for the world’s poorest populations.

Graduates were sent off in distinct New Orleans style with live jazz by Dr. Michael White and the Original Liberty Jazz Band, Mardi Gras beads and hankies and second-lining.
