With an uptick in passenger traffic expected, the Canal Street/Algiers ferry will be extending its hours to accommodate New Year's Eve traffic for fireworks on the river.

The ferry will run until 1:15 a.m. on New Year's Day (Monday), with the final departure coming at that time. The ferry will return to its normal schedule of 6 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. later that morning.

The ferry will not operate immediately before or during the display, per a U.S. Coast Guard mandate.
