A 24-year-old man was killed Saturday morning in a traffic accident in St. Roch, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m., a 27-year-old man was driving a gray Nissan Titan truck southbound on Franklin Avenue while the victim was walking eastbound on North Claiborne Avenue trying to cross the intersection, police said.
The truck hit the man and carried him several feet. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The incident shut traffic down Saturday morning on Franklin Avenue southbound from North Claiborne Avenue to North Robertson Avenue.
Police said blood and alcohol tests are pending, and the investigation is ongoing. The Orleans Parish Coroner will release the victims name and conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
