A Jefferson Parish deputy gets a newborn girl named after her after she helped a woman deliver a baby Saturday morning, according to a Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office press release.

Second District Patrol Deputy Emily Brinser responded to a 911 call of a woman giving birth in Terrytown ahortly after 9 a.m. Saturday.

Brinser arrived on-scene as a 33 year-old woman was just beginning to deliver her baby and assisted in the urgent delivery of the child.

The mother of the infant was so appreciative of Brinser's actions that, despite having already decided on a name for the baby, she was instead naming her new child Emily, after Deputy Emily Brinser.

The mother and baby Emily were transported to West Jefferson General Hospital. The baby weighed in a 7 lbs 6 oz. and she and the mother are in good health, according to the press release.
