State Police recently arrested an ex-convict accused of selling crack cocaine and marijuana out of a low-rent motel two blocks from the Orleans Parish Criminal District Courthouse.

Scott Rolack, 42, remains jailed on felony drug counts in lieu of $12,500 bail. He was taken into custody a few days before Christmas.

Troopers had received a tip in December that a man known as “Carolina” had been dealing crack out of Room 104 of the Capri Motel on Tulane Avenue. State Police alleged in court papers that the staff of the establishment “has knowledge of and accommodates their tenant’s illegal activities.”

Troopers sent an undercover informant to the room on at least two occasions to buy drugs from Rolack, according to court documents.

During a later search of the room, they seized about 3 grams of crack cocaine and several small bags of marijuana, according to an arrest report. They also found scales and other drug paraphernalia.
