The Louisiana Living History Foundation will raise money for restoration and expansion of monuments to the Battle of New Orleans with a Call to Arms gala at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at 6330 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans.
The event will feature period foods and signature drinks of the 18th and 19th centuries. Period costumes are optional. Resident historian will give a presentation on historic events, and there will be displays of period military garb and flags.
The New Leviathan Stage Band will perform, and chef John Besh will provide a cochon de lait stuffed with jambalaya.
The bicentennial of the Battle of New Orleans will be marked with a re-enactment at Chalmette Battlefield in January expected to attract 1,500 participants from around the world.
