Update, 2 p.m. Tuesday: Victims reported hearing 12 to 15 gunshots and began fleeing the area when they were struck by gunfire in the 2800 block of Josephine Street Tuesday, New Orleans police said.

Two men suffered non-life-threatening injuries, NOPD said. The third victim sustained numerous shots to the body and died in surgery.

The deceased victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.

Police have no description of the suspect or suspects, but witnesses on the scene reported a red vehicle in the area, NOPD said. The shooting occurred shortly after 10 a.m.

New Orleans police are investigating a triple shooting in Central City that left one dead and injured two others Tuesday morning.

The shooting occurred at Josephine and Willow streets around 10:12 a.m., the New Orleans Police Department said. Three male victims were transported to the hospital.

One victim, a 24-year-old man, later died, police said. The other two victims, ages 28 and 37, have non-life-threatening injuries.
