Motorcyclist dies in St. Charles crash

A 30-year-old man died Saturday after he hit a car and was ejected from his motorcycle on La. 3127 in St. Charles Parish, State Police said.

Jonathan Dascher, of Lacombe, was riding a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle shortly before 11:30 a.m. He was riding next to another Harley Davidson, being driven by William Harrison, 29, of Florida. The two were traveling north near Hahnville when, for unknown reasons, Dascher crossed the center line of the road. As he rode into oncoming traffic, a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Norman Samuel, 84, of Edgard, was traveling south. Samuel tried to avoid a crash but was unable to do so.

Dascher’s motorcycle struck the Colorado, causing him to be ejected. The Colorado continued off the right side of the road and rolled over. In an attempt to avoid the crash, Harrison laid his motorcycle down and slid off the right side of La. 3127.

Dascher, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to St. Charles Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Harrison, who also was wearing a helmet, and Samuel, who was wearing a seat belt, were taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.

Police don’t yet know if alcohol was a factor in the crash. Routine toxicology test results are pending.
