The Crescent City Amateur Radio Group will hold an eight-night amateur radio technician course at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, from Feb. 24 through March 24, at the West Bank Regional Library, 2751 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey.
The course is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
Students will take the national accreditation test on the final night of the course in order to get their amateur radio licenses.
Ham radio is enjoyed by thousands of people throughout the world. Local amateur radio operators are valuable communications volunteers following major storms and hurricanes on the Gulf Coast. One night of the eight-week course will be devoted to a “storm chaser” class conducted by the National Weather Service.
