The New Orleans Fire Department said a single-story double house in the 2400 block of Delachaise Street collapsed shortly after 9 p.m. Monday.

The home at 2426-28 Delachaise was unoccupied and under renovation.

The NOFD said the collapse also caused “significant damage” to the home next door at 2430 Delachaise.

No one was injured. The American Red Cross assisted the two residents of 2430 Delachaise in finding temporary housing.

The cause of the collapse is under investigation.

Debris that posed an immediate hazard was removed by firefighters; they also cordoned off the scene with yellow crime-scene tape.

An official of the city’s Code Enforcement Office said the scene would be cleared Wednesday morning.
