New Orleans native Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, was the keynote speaker when the local Planned Parenthood office held a reception with the theme “Building the Foundation: Honoring Our Heroes — the Community Builders.”

Among those honored were Barre McNeely Inc. architects John Williams and Carlos Garcia, Terrence Rice, from Fulcrum Engineering, and community volunteer leader Pamela Steeg.

The reception drew about 500 people to the Pavilion of the Two Sisters in the New Orleans Botanical Garden in City Park on Nov. 12.
