A motorcyclist died Wednesday after losing control and striking a guardrail on the Almonaster Avenue overpass and Jourdon Road, police said.
The 34-year-old man was traveling westbound on Almonaster Avenue near the elevated portion of the overpass when he apparently lost control and struck the guardrail, the New Orleans Police Department said in a news release. The man, from LaPlace, was ejected from the motorcycle and landed inside the gauge on the train track, under the rail car.
Emergency medical paramedics tried to revive him, but he died at the scene.
Officers found the 2006 Kawasaki on top of the Almonaster Avenue overpass. The accident happened around 10:08 p.m. Wednesday.
Blood and alcohol tests are pending. The Coroner’s Office will conduct an official autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
