Support workers honored

The Jefferson Parish Public School System has named its outstanding school support employees of the year, and two of the honorees work at east bank schools.

They are Russell Mohamad, of T.H. Harris Middle School in Metairie, and Tammy Dixon, of Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology Academy in Old Jefferson.

Also named was Sally Falcone, of Lionel R. Collins Montessori School in Marrero.

The three employees are the district’s nominees for state recognition as Outstanding School Support Employee of the Year.

Mohamad is an assistant custodian at Harris and was nominated by Principal Otis Guichet for being an employee “who inspires others to go above and beyond in their jobs.” Guichet credited Mohamad for “serving as an ambassador for not only Harris Middle School but also the entire school system.”

Dixon, a plant manager at Patrick Taylor Academy, was nominated by Principal Jaime Zapico for her work “in ensuring that the campus is both pristine and safe for the students and the staff.” In her nomination form, Zapico wrote that “Dixon is an asset to Taylor, and that the school staff and students are very fortunate to have her as part of the family.”

Falcone is a prekindergarten/kindergarten assistant at Collins Montessori School and was nominated the school’s principal, Esther Pollard.
