One arrested, 3 still at large in attack
One suspect has been arrested in connection with the beating and robbery of a man last month in the French Quarter.
Edward Doyle, 27, was booked with one count of armed robbery after he confessed to his role in the crime, police said.
The attack and robbery happened about 4:30 a.m. Oct. 12 in the 800 block of St. Louis Street.
Unknown men threw the victim to the ground and began to punch and kick him. One man pulled out a pistol, pointed it at the victim and demanded his wallet and watch, valued at more than $10,000.
Detective Jason Collins saw Doyle standing in the doorway of Razzoo Bar & Patio in the 500 block of Bourbon Street about 3 a.m. Monday and recognized him as one of the men seen in surveillance footage of the attack, police said.
After Collins and other detectives took Doyle to the 8th District station for questioning, he reportedly offered a confession.
Police previously obtained a warrant for 23-year-old Bruce Jones for a count of armed robbery in the same incident. He and two unknown men remain at large.
Woman killed in Uptown is identified
A woman shot to death late last week in Uptown has been identified as Shanda Henderson by Dr. Jeffrey Rouse, the Orleans Parish coroner.
Henderson, 22, was found shot about 3 a.m. Nov. 7 inside a Mercedes-Benz that hit a parked car in the 2200 block of Foucher Street.
She later died at Interim LSU Hospital.
Police said at the time of the crime they were trying to determine where the shooting happened. They have not said if they have discovered that location.
N.O. East homicide suspect identified
Police have identified and are searching for a suspect in a months-old homicide in New Orleans East.
Tavis Leonard, 19, is alleged to have killed 32-year-old Charles Meyers, who was shot about 9 a.m. March 26 in the 11000 block of Hayne Boulevard.
Witnesses identified Leonard as the gunman, police said. Police have obtained a first-degree murder warrant for him.

Two sought in theft of alcohol from drugstore
Two men are being sought in connection with a shoplifting Sunday at an Uptown drug store.
The men, whose images were captured on store surveillance cameras, walked into the Rite Aid at 3401 St. Charles Ave., grabbed several bottles of alcohol and walked out without paying, police said.

Police try to ID men in N.O. East shooting
Police are trying to identify two men wanted in connection with a New Orleans East shooting.
Shots were fired about 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Waffle House in the 5800 block of Read Boulevard. A 42-year-old man who was an innocent bystander was wounded, police said.
The shooting happened after two men got into an argument inside the restaurant.
One of the men walked out of the business and got into a white Jeep. The other man followed him and opened fire. The man in the Jeep then returned fire, police said.
The man who was hit was in his own vehicle at the time. He was struck in the back and was in stable condition.
The gunman who fled in the Jeep is described as a black man, 30 to 40 years old, 5-foot-9 and about 250 pounds.
The other gunman is described as a black man in his 20s, about 5-foot-7 and 180 pounds. He wore black clothes and drove a small black SUV.

Sports car stolen by unknown tow truck
Someone driving a tow truck stole a sports car parked on a Gentilly street.
The victim, who works at a business in the 6200 block of Franklin Avenue, told police his disabled 1990 Ford Probe was parked outside the business when he went home late Nov. 7. He arrived about 11:15 a.m. the next day to find it missing.
The store’s surveillance cameras recorded images of a white flatbed tow truck leaving with the car about 6:15 a.m.
Central City shooting wounds two Monday
Two men were shot Monday evening in Central City, police said.
The victims, ages 20 and 21, were shot about 5:45 p.m. in the 3300 block of Thalia Street.
No other information was available.
Man drives himself to hospital after shooting
A man drove himself to a hospital after being shot Sunday night in New Orleans East.
The 36-year-old victim was in the 13000 block of Curran Road about 9:40 p.m. when he heard gunshots and realized he was shot, police said.
Police have not identified a suspect in the case.
N.O. police investigate two armed robberies
New Orleans police on Monday were investigating two armed robberies reported on an overnight crime log.
At 3:34 a.m. Sunday, an unknown robber walked up to a 59-year-old man in the 2600 block of Royal Street and demanded money. The victim handed over his cash and the robber fled.
At 4:07 a.m. Monday at Dauphine and St. Ann streets, a man with a gun walked up and demanded the victims’ money. He ran away once they handed over their money.
Tulane student dies after fall from balcony
A Tulane University sophomore died after falling off a dormitory balcony over the weekend.
The Tulane Hullabaloo, the student newspaper, reported that Benjamin Burlock, 20, fell from a second-floor balcony at the Phelps House dorm.
Burlock fell about 1:15 a.m. Saturday and suffered blunt head trauma, the newspaper reported, citing a Tulane Police Department log, which noted the accident involved underage drinking.
Tulane President Michael Fitts confirmed Burlock’s identity in a campus email, The Hullabaloo reported.
Burlock was a student in the School of Liberal Arts.
