Mandeville police officers, responding to a complaint of a man masturbating in his vehicle Monday, caught the man in the act and arrested him, according to a press release from the Mandeville Police Department.

Sean David Rhodes, 22, of Mandeville, was arrested just after 6:30 p.m. and charged with one count of obscenity.

Police gave this account:

Officers responded to the parking lot of Northlake Shopping Center, in the 1800 block of North Causeway Approach, after receiving a complaint of a man masturbating in a gray 2006 Nissan Altima.

The first officer arrived on scene and located the vehicle. Rhodes was seated in the vehicle and still actively “perpetrating his crime” as the officer approached the vehicle. Rhodes was promptly arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail.

A first offense for obscenity carries a fine of between $1,000 and $2,000 and between six months and three years’ imprisonment.
