Chicago Tribune columnist Kristen McQueary replies to criticisms over her column that wished a Katrina-style storm would hit Chicago, according to a brief on WWLTV.

While stopping short of apologizing, McQueary said she wanted to explain why she used a metaphor to talk about how Chicago needed a reason to scrap its current school and financial system and start from scratch.

"I find myself wishing for a storm in Chicago — an unpredictable, haughty, devastating swirl of fury. A dramatic levee break. Geysers bursting through manhole covers. A sleeping city, forced onto the rooftops," she writes.
