NOFD have responded to a three-alarm fire Uptown at the former New Orleans Free Academy on Foucher & Coliseum.

WWL-TV is reporting that the fire may have been started by lightning, though that hasn't been confirmed by officials. The fire was in the attic of the building, according to NOFD fire chief Tim McConnell.

As of 5:20 p.m., the fire was still not under control and firefighters had been at the scene for roughly an hour.

The building is undergoing renovations and was vacant and secured when the firefighters arrived.
