Man fatally shot Saturday in Gentilly
A 27-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday evening in Gentilly, New Orleans police said.
The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. near Allen and Pleasure streets.
Responding to a report of gunfire, officers found the victim lying in the grass suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He died at the scene.

Woman dies after hit by truck Friday
A 68-year-old woman was killed Friday afternoon when she was hit by a truck on St. Charles Avenue, police said.
The woman was trying to cross St. Charles at St. Andrew Street about 2 p.m. She was hit by a turning vehicle as she entered the second lane of traffic.
The 57-year-old driver of the four-door Ford truck was making a left turn from St. Andrew onto St. Charles, police said.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver wasn’t injured.
No citations were issued, and blood and alcohol tests are pending.
Police will send the results of their investigation to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
Woman carjacked in the 7th Ward
An 18-year-old woman was carjacked while inside a residence in the 1600 block of North Prieur Street in the 7th Ward, New Orleans police said.
Another person was sitting in the victim’s car just after 10 p.m. Friday while the owner was inside the residence.
Two armed men demanded the other person get out of the car. The robbers then fled in the woman’s car.
Woman raped in New Orleans East
A woman was sexually assaulted Friday night in New Orleans East, police said.
The incident happened about 11 p.m. in the 5800 block of Read Boulevard.
Teen accidentally shot in Mandeville
An accidental shooting in Mandeville on Friday night left one teenager in the hospital and another facing criminal charges, the Mandeville Police Department said.
Police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 100 block of Carroll Street in Old Mandeville about 9 p.m., according to Lt. Gerald Sticker, a spokesman for the department.
When they arrived, the officers found five 16-year-old males, one of whom was shot in the arm. He was transported to a hospital, where he was in stable condition.
Detectives questioned the other teens and learned they were alone in the house, playing video games, when the shooting happened.
The teen who lived in the house had retrieved his father’s pistol and was playing with it, Sticker said. “The juvenile removed the magazine from the pistol and then pointed the gun to the side and pulled the trigger to make sure the gun was unloaded,” he said.
The weapon discharged, striking one of his friends. The group immediately called 911.
The youth who fired the gun was arrested and booked on negligent injuring and possession of a handgun by a person under 17.
Jefferson Parish reports cuttings, robbery
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reported three major crimes Friday:
A man was stabbed about 1 a.m. in the 1400 block of Utah Beach Drive in Belle Chasse.
Another man was stabbed about noon in the 1000 block of Eli Court in Terrytown.
About 5 p.m., a man was robbed at gunpoint in the 2500 block of Giuffrias Avenue in Metairie.
Shooting reported in Central City
A shooting was reported Saturday afternoon in Central City, police said.
The incident occurred about 4 p.m. near the intersection of First and South Derbigny streets. Police released no other information.
Woman arrested in man’s stabbing
A woman was arrested after a man was stabbed in the 7th Ward early Saturday morning, police said.
Mia Abbott, 28, was arrested after an argument she was having with a 39-year-old man turned physical. The pair were in the 1800 block of Aubry Street about 1:30 a.m. when Abbott stabbed the man in the chest with a knife, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital.
