A nutrition extension agent with the LSU AgCenter in St. John the Baptist Parish has won recognition for her work providing relevant educational programs to an increasingly diverse population in the parish and encouraging participants to get involved with their health and wellness.

Cynthia Clifton received the Mary W. Wells Diversity Award and the Community Partnership Award from the Louisiana Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences during its convention in New Orleans on May 4-6.

The Community Partnership Award highlights Clifton’s partnership with the Homer Joseph Community Center in Reserve, where she conducts a healthy living program and exercise classes from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

“If I have touched at least one person to reduce or get off their medication, I feel that I have done a great service” Clifton said.
