Woman, 41, killed when vehicle flips over

A 41-year-old Port Sulphur woman died early Tuesday when the SUV in which she was a passenger ran off a road in Plaquemines Parish.

State Police were notified of the crash on La. 23 near mile post 41 about 3 a.m.

A 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Tenille Edgerson, 33, of Buras, ran off the road, State Police said. Edgerson overcorrected, and the SUV overturned.

The passenger, Marcia Barthelemy, 41, died on the scene.

Edgerson was treated at a hospital for moderate injuries.

Neither woman was wearing a seat belt, and investigators suspect driver impairment, said Trooper Melissa Matey, a Troop B spokeswoman.

Blood was drawn from Edgerson, and toxicology tests and criminal charges are pending, Matey said.

Two sought in robbery of man on CBD street

Police are trying to identify two men wanted for a robbery in the Central Business District.

About 3:45 a.m. Monday, a 19-year-old man was approached by two other men in the 100 block of Roosevelt Way.

One man grabbed the victim’s arms and pinned them behind his back. The second man took the victim’s cash and credit cards from his pockets.

The men fled toward Canal Street.

Police on Tuesday released sketches of the robbers.

The first man is described as black, thin, clean-shaven, about 5-foot-6 and 145 pounds. He wore a white sweater and gray sweatpants.

The second man is described as black with a stocky build, clean-shaven and about 5-foot-8. He wore a black, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Men armed with knives break into N.O. home

Three men armed with knives forced their way into a Lower 9th Ward home early Tuesday morning and made off with the victim’s car and money, police said.

The burglary happened about 2:20 a.m. in the 4700 block of North Rampart Street.

Police said the 74-year-old victim was in bed when the men burst into his home. They searched the home and found $400, police said.

They fled in the victim’s convertible 2003 Volkswagen Beetle with Mississippi plates.

Police issue warrant for suspect in shooting

Police have identified a suspect in a double shooting Monday evening in Central City.

A warrant for attempted murder has been obtained for Dwight Price , 18. He allegedly shot the victims about 5:45 p.m. in the 3300 block of Thalia Street.

Police have not identified a motive for the shooting.

Man beaten with gun during armed robbery

A man was beaten with a gun Monday evening during a robbery, New Orleans police said.

The victim told police that he was in the 1400 block of Canal Street when a group of men walked up to him about 6 p.m.

One of the men hit the victim in the head with a gun and took his cash and cellphone.

Police provided no descriptions of the men.
