The Cinderella Project is accepting donations of costume jewelry, girls’ princess dresses and teen prom dresses for girls in need through Oct. 27 at the following locations:

  • Saenger Theatre box office, 1111 Canal St., New Orleans. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Romaguera Photography, 2319 Metairie Road, Metairie. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Salon Sanity, 429 Wall Blvd., Suite 4, Gretna. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with extended hours some days.

All dress sizes are accepted. Donations must be age-appropriate, in excellent condition and not purchased prior to 2009. Dress donations must be on hangers and dry-cleaned prior to drop-off.

The project is being organized in collaboration with Saenger Theater and the company of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella,” which will play at the Saenger Oct. 27-Nov. 1

“Cinderella” cast member Audrey Cardwell has spearheaded this initiative in several tour markets. “The heartbeat of our show is kindness,” Cardwell said, “and I hope that this partnership can spread the show’s message in a more tangible way by providing girls with the resources to have a fairy tale evening of their own.”

The Cinderella Project supports young women in need across Louisiana through educational outreach and community-based projects designed to build confidence and self-esteem. Founded in Baton Rouge in 2008, The Cinderella Project has expanded to four additional cities in Louisiana, including New Orleans. To date, it has collected more than 15,000 donated prom dresses and distributed 4,300 dresses to students in 84 high schools across the state.
