It was part breakfast, part lunch and part party with people and their pets. About 10,000 people went to City Park on April 3 for Brunch Fest, a new fundraiser for the SPCA, said Communications Director Alicia Haefele. It all translated into raising almost $60,000 to help local animals, she said. Plus, “All seven of our adoptable dogs we brought to Brunch Fest went home or went on an overnight sleepover.” Haefele named as some of her most memorable dishes The Cheezy Cajun’s crawfish boil bread pudding, Crossroads at House of Blues’ chicken and waffles, and Dirty Dishes’ smoked Gouda mac and cheese with crawfish tasso.

Brunch Fest will be back next year, Haefele said.
