Next month, K9s for Warriors, in collaboration with the Deutsches Haus, will host a special fundraiser called “A Toast to Our Heroes.”
The event is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Deutsches Haus, 1023 Ridgewood Drive, Metairie. All proceeds will benefit K9s for Warriors, a nonprofit organization founded in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, dedicated to providing service canines to veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress and or traumatic brain injury as a result of military service.
Tickets are $75 per person and sponsorships are also available. There will be food from several local restaurants, refreshments, a silent auction and music by the John Martin Davis Band. And Eric Paulsen from WWL Television will serve as master of ceremony.

Annual reunion planned
The Metairie High School Alumni Association is hosting its 28th annual reunion from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Metairie Lions Club, 1627 Metairie Road, Old Metairie.
The association is open to those who have graduated from MHS, whose spouses have graduated from MHS, and/or who attended Metairie Junior High School, Metairie Middle School or Haynes Middle School/Academy. Membership is $10 per year.

The St. Christopher Men’s Club along with the Catholic Youth Organization is hosting the fourth annual “Trunk or Treat” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday in the schoolyard, 3900 Derbigny St., Metairie.
The cost is $10 to enter a car in the contest, and those participating must provide their own candy and decorations. Only 50 cars will be allowed in the schoolyard.
There will be music, costumes, decoration awards, candy and concessions.

The final performances of the musical “Fancy Nancy” are this weekend at the Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts, 325 Minor St., Kenner.
