The Westbank Quarterback Club honored 38 West Bank high school student-athletes during its kickoff banquet at the Four Columns. The guest speaker was Mike Detillier of ESPN. Mia Kylie Ditta sang the national anthem and “God Bless America.” The master of ceremonies was Brad Grundmeyer.
The female athletes honored were swimmer Thea Martin from Thomas Jefferson High School and five volleyball players each from Belle Chasse High School and Academy of Our Lady. The volleyball players from Belle Chasse High School were Hayley Barbazon, Toni Corso, Lacey Grafe, Haley Johnson and Emily Morgan. The volleyball players from Academy of Our Lady were Adde Baldwin, Jill Chaisson, Kaylee Dufrene, Mia Jones and Hailee Richard. Recognition also went to coaches Joan Casseri, of Thomas Jefferson High School; Don Landry, of Academy of Our Lady; and Anne Marie Reynolds, of Belle Chasse High School.
The male athletes honored were all football players. They were David Carter, of West Jefferson High School; Aldon Clark, of Edna Karr High School; Byron Jenkins, of Helen Cox High School; Matthew Keller and Trey Regas, of Archbishop Shaw High School; David Lewis, of Thomas Jefferson High School; Caylin Parker, of Belle Chasse High School; and Dallas Verrett, of Fisher High School.
Recognition also went to coaches Scott Bairnsfather, of Archbishop Shaw High School; Troy Beaucaudray, of West Jefferson High School; Willie Brooks, of Helen Cox High School; Aaron Caulfield, of Fisher High School; Tori Denis, of Edna Karr High School; Kevin Kelly, of Thomas Jefferson High School; Steve Meyers, of Belle Chasse High School; Emanuel Powell, of Landry-Walker High School; and Steve Weins, of South Plaquemines High School.
