More than 4,500 customers were without power Thursday afternoon, according to Entergy's outage map.
The outages began about 2:30 p.m., and the cause is still being determined.
The estimated time for power to be restored is 5:30 p.m., according to Entergy. See the latest outages here.
The loss of power also comes amid low temperatures and inclement weather that could bring sleet and snow to the area Friday morning, although New Orleans' south shore is currently outside of the winter weather advisory.
The outage is also the third of the month for Entergy, which also saw sizable outages on Dec. 1 in the French Quarter and Dec. 6 in in Treme and Marigny.
