Woman found dead in Terrytown home

A 57-year-old woman was found beaten to death inside her Terrytown home Wednesday afternoon, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Mary Ann Romano died from head trauma, said. Col. John Fortunato, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

Deputies arrived at Romano’s home in the 700 block of Terry Parkway about 2:45 p.m. in response to a call from a woman who said she had found her mother dead inside.

The Sheriff’s Office did not immediately identify a suspect or motive, but investigators are searching for Romano’s 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe with the Louisiana handicapped license plate 316498.

Man robbed in car on 7th Ward street

A man was robbed at gunpoint while sitting in his car Tuesday afternoon in the 7th Ward, New Orleans police said.

The robber walked up to the 39-year-old man’s car about 12:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Johnson Street and went through his pockets.

He then ran away with the man’s belongings.

Slidell man booked on child porn charges

A 31-year-old Slidell man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of possessing child pornography, the state Attorney General’s Office said.

Michael Forsyth was arrested as a result of a joint investigation involving the Attorney General’s Office, Louisiana State Police and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

An undercover investigation into the downloading and distribution of child pornography led agents to execute a search warrant at Forsyth’s home, where they allegedly found “numerous” pornographic images and videos of children under the age of 13.

Forsyth was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on 20 counts of possessing pornography involving juveniles.

If convicted as charged, Forsyth faces up to 20 years in prison on each count of child pornography.
