Ronald Markham has resigned as director of the New Orleans Public Library Foundation board after an investigation by WWL-TV exposed payments from that board to Markham's employer, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra.

Markam's move to step down comes on the heels of an investigation by WWL-TV reporter David Hammer on Tuesday. Bob Brown has been named to take over for Markham. The investigation exposed six-figure payments from that board to Markham's employer, the New Orleans Jazz orchestra, raising questions about where donations to the foundation were spent.

"In accepting this appointment, I am representing interests ranging from the library's executives and staff to the Foundation, including Ronald Markham, who has done an outstanding job in establishing this viable organization," said Brown.
