Fifth-graders studying world history under Alison Brister at Arden Cahill Academy in Gretna recently worked with their parents to transform the school gym into an International Bazaar representing 24 countries.

The students chose countries to research and created backboards to display information, 3-D models to represent landmarks from their countries, and PowerPoint presentations to demonstrate what they had learned.

Many students chose countries that represented their family heritage or places they had visited. Students and faculty visited the gym to purchase trinkets and food from the countries’ tables and to have an overall international experience.

Proceeds from the bazaar will be used to purchase technology for the school’s social studies classrooms.
