A physician was fatally shot by his wife in their Folsom-area home early Sunday morning, a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

A 911 call came in about 3 a.m. from Kacie Breen, wife of Dr. Wayne Breen, according to Capt. George Bonnett of the Sheriff’s Office. Kacie Breen said she had shot her husband after an altercation between the two, Bonnett said.

The St. Tammany Coroner’s Office confirmed that Wayne Breen, 65, had been shot at a private home.

Kacie Breen has not been booked, and sheriff’s deputies are still investigating the incident, Bonnett said Sunday afternoon.

Court records show that Kacie Breen filed for a protective order against Wayne Breen on July 20, 2012. That record is sealed.

Wayne Breen was an obstetrician/gynecologist affiliated with Doctors for Women Medical Center in Covington, with active staff privileges at local hospitals.

No further details were available, Bonnett said.
