An office building at 336 Camp Street in the Central Business District was briefly evacuated on Thursday afternoon because of strong odors of an unknown origin.
Haz-Mat crew confirmed that a fire was not the source of the smell, according to Carlene Barthe, a New Orleans Fire Department spokesman. Instead a “light haze” of froen gas was being emitted from an air conditioning unit. Barthe said the incident was turned over to a building manager.
No injuries were reported and employees were let into the building, which sits next to the Q&C Hotel, after a short period.
Editor’s note: This story has been corrected to note that an office building next to the Q&C Hotel was evacuated, not the hotel itself.
