Four shot in N.O. on Saturday, Sunday

Four people were shot in three separate incidents in New Orleans on Saturday and Sunday, according to Officer Garry Flot, a spokesman for the New Orleans Police Department.

The first shooting occurred about 6 p.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of North Claiborne Avenue. Flot said two victims, ages 23 and 17, were leaving a store when someone opened fire. They went to a hospital on their own with injuries that were not life-threatening. No additional information was available.

The second shooting occurred about 1:30 a.m. in the 6100 block of Dwyer Road in New Orleans East, according to Flot. The victim, a male, was walking when he realized he had been shot. He was taken to a local hospital in a private vehicle.

Around 5 p.m. Sunday, a man arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound to his hip that he said he suffered at North Claiborne Avenue and Frenchmen Street. No further information was available.

Man stabbed in Marrero early Sunday

A man was stabbed in the 5600 block of the West Bank Expressway in Marrero around 2 a.m. Sunday, according to records from Jefferson Parish 911 headquarters.

The man’s condition was not disclosed.

Man arrested in Uptown SWAT incident

A man was arrested early Sunday in Uptown after he barricaded himself in a home and fired several gunshots before eventually surrendering to a SWAT team.

The incident began about 4 a.m. in the 1300 block of Napoleon Avenue, according to Officer Garry Flot.

Flot said officers were called to the scene after a report of a disturbance. When they arrived, a woman who was outside the house said the man was inside. He refused to come out of the house. Officers then heard several gunshots, Flot said.

No one was injured in the incident, according to Flot. He said the suspect, Elmer Anweiler, 43, surrendered peacefully to officers about 6:30 a.m.

Armed robbery early Sunday in Harvey

An armed robbery was reported Sunday morning at a Circle K store in Harvey, according to records from Jefferson Parish 911 headquarters.

The incident happened about 2 a.m. in the 1500 block of the West Bank Expressway. No further information was available.
