A Marrero woman dragged a police officer with her car who had been approaching the driver’s vehicle in connection with a recent stabbing call made to authorities Sunday afternoon, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s reported.
As the officer approached the vehicle on Wyoming Drive, Marrero at around 4 p.m., sheriff’s authorities claim the driver put her vehicle into reverse and drove away with the officer hanging on to the door. The officer fell from the vehicle onto the road landing against a pick-up truck, authorities said.
Authorities later arrested Kenosha Richard, 22, 2600 Wyoming Drive, and booked her with one count of attempted murder of a police officer.
Officer Monica McLaurin was transported to West Jefferson Hospital and treated for neck, back and leg injuries.
During a further search of the call area, 2600 Wyoming Drive, officers later discovered a 29-year old man lying a pool of blood in the backyard of the Wyoming address.
Authorities identified him as Lamar Edmond, of Thibodaux, who was reported to be Richard’s boyfriend. He was transported to University Hospital where he is in guarded condition with a large laceration to his upper body.
Richard was additionally charged with aggravated battery by cutting, and a narcotics related charge, the JPSO said.
