Jefferson Dollars for Scholars will be the beneficiary of the next Locals Night at the Marriott Metairie at Lakeway, which will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 14 in the hotel’s Bistreaux Metairie restaurant, 3838 N. Causeway Blvd., Metairie.

Each Locals Night event benefits a different Jefferson Parish nonprofit organization. The event June 11 will benefit the Jefferson Performing Arts Society.

The events are open to the public and include entertainment, giveaways, luxury “staycation” raffles and celebrity bartenders.

The series began April 16 with a festive benefit for the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, which works to restore and preserve the water quality, coast and habitats of the entire Pontchartrain Basin.

At the event, the hotel unveiled its Jefferson Parish Oyster Trail sculpture. The Oyster Trail is an initiative of the Jefferson Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Louisiana Tourism Recovery Program in which local artists create original, hand-painted oyster sculptures, which are displayed at select Jefferson Parish restaurants serving Louisiana oysters.

Local artist Jessica Normington designed the sculpture that will permanently grace the entrance to Bistreaux Metairie.
