Two overnight shootings in Central City that happened within a mile of each other sent two men to the hospital.

According to New Orleans police, the first shooting occurred around 9 p.m. Wednesday at the corner of South Claiborne and Jackson avenues. The victim and the suspect got into a fight, and the suspect -- 32-year-old Duavanvall Bridges -- shot the 33-year-old man.

The man was taken to an area hospital. No information on his condition was provided.

The second shooting occurred just before 2 a.m. Thursday in the 1800 block of South Liberty Street.

The victim, 36, was walking when he saw three or four armed, masked men shoot a passing vehicle. Two of the bullets hit the victim.
