Update, 10 a.m. Thursday:

A woman was arrested for negligent homicide after police say she shot her boyfriend, believing that the gun was not loaded.

Ebony Harmon, 28, was arrested in the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man on Springbrook Lane in Algiers Wednesday, the New Orleans Police Department said in a news release.

Harmon told police that she and her boyfriend were “playing with a weapon when the victim told her to shoot him,” police said. Harmon told detectives that she pulled the trigger, believing the gun was not loaded.

The weapon was loaded, however, and the man sustained a fatal gunshot wound, police said.

Harmon was booked with one count of negligent homicide.

A man is dead and two others injured after three separate shootings on Wednesday afternoon and evening in the New Orleans area.

The fatal shooting occurred at an Algiers apartment Wednesday afternoon, according to New Orleans police.

The incident occurred in the 2100 block of Springbrook Lane just before 5 p.m. NOPD said officers found the victim inside of an apartment with a gunshot wound to the body.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Later in the evening around 7:50 p.m., a 19-year-old man was hit in the knee with bullet fragments in the 14000 block of Wales in New Orleans East, according to NOPD.

The third shooting occurred just before 9 p.m. in the 3800 block of Garden Oaks Drive in Algiers. NOPD said officers found a 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to one of his arms. The suspect, as described by NOPD, is a black man wearing a red shirt and dark pants.

No other details were provided.
