ASSOCIATED PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS: A recent graduate of Our Lady of Holy Cross College has been appointed to the state board of directors of Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana.

Jeff Adam served as president of the college’s A+PEL student chapter. He will attend all meetings and become involved in the nonprofit’s oversight and management.

A+PEL focuses on professional development, advocacy and excellence.

“We take pride in preparing teacher candidates who can shape the next generation,” Lisa Sullivan, chairwoman of the OLHCC education department, said. “By educating the heart and mind and providing extensive field work in diverse classroom settings, we prepare teachers for the challenges they will face in schools.”

CONCERTS AT XAVIER: Divine Foundation Inc., a nonprofit focused on youth empowerment, is sponsoring concerts Friday and Saturday, Aug. 1 and 2, at the Xavier University Convocation Center in New Orleans.

Eddie Levert and Rachelle Ferrell will perform at 8 p.m. Friday. Levert is the lead vocalist of The O’Jays, and Ferrell is a contemporary jazz singer noted for her range. Tickets are $45 to $60 and are available at
