Members of the New Orleans Police Department’s dive team recovered a Volvo C70 from Bayou St. John on Tuesday morning that was driven into the waterway near the corner of Moss and Dumaine streets by a man experiencing a medical emergency on August 29.

New Orleans Police Department spokesman Officer Garry Flot said the man was pulled out of the water by bystanders and taken to the hospital.

Recovery operations along the waterway are a familiar ritual for police. Dozens of cars were pulled out of the bayou when police searched for missing teacher Terrilynn Monette, whose body was finally pulled up in June 2013.
