Man found dead inside vehicle in Harvey
A man found dead from a gunshot wound Monday night on Keith Way Drive in Harvey was identified Tuesday as Terrance Wright, 19, of Gretna, by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies discovered Wright dead from a gunshot wound about 9 p.m. Monday.
Officers had been responding to what was believed to be a traffic accident resulting in a fatality when they discovered the victim dead with a gunshot wound to the chest in the driver’s seat of a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta.
Homicide investigators believe Wright’s vehicle left the road while he was driving on Keith Way Drive. It accelerated and crashed through several fences before stopping in a rear yard on Melissa Drive.

Man slain on Sumner Street in Algiers
Gunfire about 8:30 p.m. Monday left an 18-year-old man dead in the 1200 block of Sumner Street in Algiers, New Orleans police reported.
The victim, who has not been identified, and two other men were standing in front of a residence when a vehicle approached and opened fire, the NOPD said.

Motorcyclist killed on Chef Menteur Highway
A 39-year-old man died late Sunday when his motorcycle ran into the rear of a pickup truck. The driver of the truck, Darnell Harrison, 31, was booked on vehicular homicide and failure to yield, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred about 10:15 p.m. on Chef Menteur Highway at Dale Street.
The victim’s motorcycle was traveling westbound when it ran into the rear of a 2014 Toyota Tundra, causing the truck to swerve into another lane, where it was struck by a 2010 Ford Mustang. Drivers of the Toyota and Ford were not injured.
The incident remains under investigation. Blood and alcohol tests are pending.
Woman runs red light, dies in crash
A 66-year-old LaPlace woman died in a two-car crash about 10 a.m. Tuesday at Main Street and Airline Highway, according to State Police.
Linda Everett was driving a 2002 Toyota Corolla south on Airline and went through a red light at Main Street, State Police said. Her car then hit a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Maria Lambert, 57, of LaPlace, that was turning north onto Airline from Main.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, but State Police suspect Everett’s belt was not being worn properly.
Everett died at Ochsner Hospital in St. John Parish, while Lambert was taken to East Jefferson General Hospital with minor injuries.
Man stabbed Monday near Jackson Square
New Orleans police are looking for a woman who allegedly slashed a male friend with a box cutter near Jackson Square about 12:45 p.m. Monday.
The victim, 28, and Victoria Cosey-Green, 37, were arguing, and Cosey-Green stabbed the victim in the neck with a box cutter, Officer Frank Robertson said.
The incident occurred in the 700 block of Chartres Street.
The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, and a warrant was issued for Cosey-Green’s arrest, Robertson said.
Home invasion bungled in N.O. East
New Orleans police arrested two men who police said tried to rob a home in New Orleans East on Monday.
The armed men entered a home on Acadiana Place through the garage about 3:30 p.m. and forced a 12-year-old boy to lie on the floor, according to police. The men then heard another person in the house and fled.
They were caught by 7th District officers in the 5600 block of St. Helena Street, police said.
NOPD: Man flags down car, steals it
A man’s car was stolen Tuesday morning after the driver picked up a man who flagged him down and asked for a ride. The passenger later pulled a gun and ordered him out of the car.
The 58-year-old driver took the man to the 7900 block of Brevard Avenue in New Orleans about 4:30 a.m., according to police. When they got there, the man demanded the driver’s car and cellphone.
Man’s car and cellphone stolen
A man was sitting in his car waiting for his girlfriend when men in a truck blocked him in and demanded his keys and his cellphones.
The incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Monday at North Tonti and Laharpe streets, according to police.
