Police investigating double shooting

New Orleans police are investigating a double shooting Saturday night that left a man dead in the Desire neighborhood.

Officers arrived in the 3300 block of Metropolitan Street just before 11 p.m. to find two men inside a tan Mercury suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was taken to a local hospital.

Neither victim has been identified.

On Sunday, a neighbor who refused to give his name said he had heard between 10 and 15 shots fired. He didn’t step outside, however, to see what had happened.

“We mind our own business around here,” he said, adding that he frequently hears gunshots in the area. “That’s the best thing to do.”

Investigators are looking for the shooters.

Man shot to death in New Orleans East

A 32-year-old man was shot dead Sunday evening inside an apartment in New Orleans East.

He was found shot just after 5 p.m. in the 10000 block of Roger Drive, police said. He died at the scene of multiple gunshot wounds.

No further information was immediately available.

Man shot Sunday night in N.O. East

A 48-year-old man was shot multiple times Sunday night inside an apartment in the 4400 block of Gawain Drive in New Orleans East.

The shooting happened just before 7 p.m., police said.

The victim was transported to a hospital.

Suspects sought in Irish Channel armed robbery

New Orleans police are asking the public to help find two men wanted in connection with an Oct. 3 armed robbery in the Irish Channel.

Jacolby Lamar, 26, is being sought, as is another unknown man.

A 76-year-old man was inside his house in the 700 block of Eighth Street when the two suspects smashed his door and entered his home, police said.

Both men had their faces partially covered. They pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his money. After he complied, they fled.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Lamar, who was identified as one of the suspects. His last known address was 717 Eighth St.

The second suspect was described as a tall black man in his mid-40s who was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt.

Pair sought for Marigny armed robbery

New Orleans police are asking for help identifying two men wanted for an armed robbery that happened Friday in the Marigny neighborhood.

Three young women were walking near Touro and North Rampart streets about 4 a.m. when they were approached by two armed men, police said.

One suspect, who had dreadlocks, said, “This is real. Give me everything you got!” The victims handed over their purses and phones before running away.

During their investigation, detectives found pictures of the men taken from one of the women’s phones. They had photographed themselves posing with guns and posted the pictures to the victim’s account.

Woman sought for CBD phone snatching

New Orleans police are looking for a woman wanted for snatching another woman’s phone Oct. 5 in the Central Business District.

A 41-year-old woman told police she was walking in the 1200 block of Canal Street, using her phone, when another woman ran up and snatched it from her ear.

The victim ran after the woman and got the phone back, but a second woman ran over to her, grabbed the phone and fled, police said.

While investigating, detectives found that one of the women who stole the phone had taken pictures on it with a man who police suspect is an accomplice.

The two suspects who photographed themselves are thought to live in Hammond.

Family Dollar robbed in Central City

A man robbed a Family Dollar store Saturday night in Central City, New Orleans police said.

The manager of the store in the 2100 block of South Claiborne Avenue said another man, dressed in black, walked in about 9:20 p.m. with a gun and demanded money. When the manager complied, the man fled.

Man, woman robbed in New Orleans East

A 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were robbed at gunpoint early Sunday morning in New Orleans East.

The two victims were in the 12300 block of the North I-10 Service Road about 12:40 a.m. when an armed man approached them and demanded their money and property. When they complied, he fled.

Man robbed at gunpoint in Mid-City

A 45-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint Saturday night in Mid-City.

The victim was at North Bernadotte and Iberville streets about 10:45 p.m. when he was approached by an armed man who demanded his money, police said. The armed man fled after taking the victim’s wallet.

Three victims robbed in Bywater area

Two women and a man were held up at gunpoint early Sunday morning in Bywater, police said.

The women, ages 49 and 35, were walking with a 29-year-old man in the 3200 block of Royal Street about 4:20 a.m. when they were approached from behind by a man armed with a gun.

The man struck them all before fleeing with their belongings. The three victims were treated at the scene and possibly taken to a hospital, police said.

Woman stabbed in chest in Mid-City

A 24-year-old woman was stabbed in the chest Saturday morning in Mid-City, New Orleans police said.

She was looking for a job when she saw an ex-lover, who refused to let her leave. She called 27-year-old Tanjanesia Hawkins to tell her what happened.

Police said when the woman arrived home in the 400 block of South Cortez Street about 6:30 a.m., she started fighting with Hawkins. The fight turned physical, and Hawkins stabbed her in the chest and side, police said.

Man held up in the French Quarter

A 28-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday in the French Quarter, police said.

The man told police he was in the 800 block of St. Louis Street about 4:40 a.m. when he was attacked by four to five men. One was armed with a gun.

He was knocked to the ground, he said, before the gang fled with his property and money.

Armed robbery reported in Marrerro

A man was robbed at gunpoint Sunday in Marrero, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.

The incident was reported in the 5500 block of Wabash Drive about 1 p.m. The man wasn’t injured.

Shooting reported in Bridge City

Someone was shot Friday night in Bridge City, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened about 11:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of Bridge City Avenue. Injuries were not life-threatening.
