Man arrested in fatal shooting of Bridge City man on New Year's Day _lowres

A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Bridge City man on New Year’s Day, officials said.

Michael Ennis, 19, of Avondale, was booked on first-degree murder in the shooting death of Joseph Washington, 32, who was found shot to death Friday in the 300 block of Senate Drive in Avondale, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Ennis was also booked on possession of stolen things in an unrelated investigation, as well as two attachments for failure to appear in court, JPSO said.

Ennis has a prior criminal history and has previously been arrested on charges of narcotic offenses, theft and weapons violations, JPSO said.
