The Transportation Security Administration seized a record 68 guns in carry-on bags at U.S. airports last week, including two at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
Of the 68 firearms discovered, 61 were loaded and 25 had a round in the chamber, the TSA said in a blog post.
According to the TSA, both firearms discovered at the New Orleans airport were .380 handguns, found on Oct. 23 and 24. Both were loaded and had a round in the chamber.
Passengers can travel with firearms in their checked baggage, but they have to be declared to the airline, according to the TSA.
